On the decline of Western militaries

It is well-established that militaries tend to get soft in peacetime and it takes the trauma of a major war to shake them up and reestablish their fighting prowess (see for example the states of the UK and USA's armed forces at the start of both world wars.

With that in mind, a trio of worrying stories. First up, Royal Navy appoints first female admiral. I don't have an issue with women in the military, apart from in front-line infantry (and that's only because to get them in standards have been lowered). However, as the linked article states:

'her career has seen her move up the ranks from a Royal Navy Logistics Officer to the Deputy Director of People Delivery. Jude Terry has also worked with the MoD as an operational planner, a branch manager for Navy Command HQ and Assistant Chief of Staff at the Standing Joint Force HQ'

So she has basically worked in support roles and is the equivalent of a Director of HR. The fact that the Navy has a 'Director of People Delivery.' shows the extent to which corporate HR rot has penetrated.

Second, a line in this story caught my eye:

over 10% of our most junior Royal Marines have honours degrees whilst 40% are educationally qualified to be Officers

While this is not suggesting it is going to end up a requirement to have a degree (unlike policing), it does worry me, given how uni's are mainly woke indoctrination centres that thios is spreading into the armed forces.

Finally, there is this video comparing military recruitmemt vides from the USa, Russia and China: (via)

One of these armies is not serious about fighting and winning wars (which is what they are for after all). As the old Fall of the Roman Empire film stated 'A great civilization is not conquered from without, until it has destroyed itself from within.' Based on this vid I'd say the West is well on its way to doing so.
