On my favourite YouTubers

Some of the biggest changes in the years since I last had attempted regular blogging has been the rise of videobloggers (or vloggers) particularly on  Youtube. I'm not tempted to have a go for various reasons, plus I prefer reading to listening/watching others partly because I am a fast reader and can get through more content in the time it takes to watch a video. Nonetheless, I do have a number of channels I subscribe to, here are my favorites:

The Critical Drinker- taking a sarcastic look at both recent and classic media, the Drinker is a fierce critic of identity politics and agenda-pushing in movies and TV. He is also a novelist so explains well how writers should craft characters and stories, in contrast to the messes they tend to make these days. His Game of Thrones season 8 reviews were more entertaining than the actual show, see his finale review for a good example of his content.

Voxis Productions- AKA Professor Tosspot's channel, a foul-mouthed geriatric puppet that entertainingly rips apart movies and TV shows. Not as prolific in content production these days so the rare uploads are a treat. The professor takedown on Black Panther is one of my favorites.

RedLetterMedia- the granddaddy of them all, from the original Mr. Plinkett reviews the channel has expanded to include many different channels. Again their commentaries are insightful into the production process, while their Nerd crew videos wonderfully send up the majority of gushing fans that fill YT, as this example demonstrates.

Drachinifel- moving on from pop culture, this military history channel focuses' on ship's designs and operational histories, as well as major battles, aspects of technological process and whimsical topics like ships cats. Drach has a very British, sardonic sense of humor as demonstrated in this, one of my favorite videos of his that tells the tale of the doomed Second Russian Pacific Squadron.

That's all for today, more to follow in the future.
